COMPASS and Trim PHYSIOTHERAPY CLINIC
FAQ
Compass Physio – Frequently Asked Questions
At Compass Physio, we understand that visiting a physiotherapist for the first time can raise lots of questions.
Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common things people ask before booking.
If there’s anything we haven’t covered, our team is always happy to help.
What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy helps restore movement, reduce pain, and improve function. At Compass Physio, we use assessment, hands-on treatment, and tailored exercise programs to help you get back to your best.
Who are your physiotherapists?
Our clinicians are fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapists with specialist training in musculoskeletal care, sports rehabilitation, and neurological conditions. Many also hold additional certifications such as dry needling, Pilates, or diagnostic ultrasound.
Do you communicate with my doctor or other health professionals?
Yes. With your consent, we can provide progress reports, treatment summaries, or recommendations to your GP, consultant, or other specialists involved in your care.
What should I expect on my first appointment?
Your first visit (around 40 minutes) includes a detailed discussion of your history and symptoms, a full physical assessment, and a clear diagnosis. We’ll then create a tailored treatment plan and start your rehabilitation right away.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated — for example, shorts, leggings, or a loose-fitting top. Please bring any referral letters, imaging reports (X-ray, MRI, etc.), and your health insurance card if applicable.
Will physiotherapy hurt?
You may feel some mild discomfort or muscle soreness as your body adapts to new movements, but treatment should never be painful. If something feels uncomfortable, please let your therapist know — we’ll always work within your limits.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your condition, how long you’ve had it, and your personal goals. Many musculoskeletal issues improve within 4–8 weeks, with an average of 6 sessions. Your therapist will review your progress and adjust your plan as needed.
Do you provide home exercise programs?
Yes. A key part of recovery is your effort outside the clinic. We provide a tailored home exercise program with videos and clear instructions, and review your progress regularly.
Is physiotherapy covered by insurance?
Yes, most private health insurance providers in Ireland cover physiotherapy, either partially or fully. We can assist you in confirming your coverage and provide receipts for your claims.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
No cancellations or changes are allowed within 24 hours of your appointment.
Please note that it is important to give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you intend to cancel or reschedule.
Cancellations or missed appointments within this time frame will incur a 50% fee, as this time has been specifically reserved for you.
Do I need a referral from a GP?
A referral from a doctor is not required to attend Compass Physio. However, if you have one, please bring a copy of your referral letter and any relevant reports such as X-rays, MRI scans, or medical notes related to your injury. These can help us better understand your case and coordinate your care.
Do you treat specific conditions or injuries?
Yes. We treat a wide range of conditions including back and neck pain, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, joint and muscle issues, and neurological conditions. If you’re unsure whether physiotherapy can help your problem, contact us — we’ll be happy to advise.
